Research is important to find the reasons causing premature birth. Money from the
Preemie Purple Heart is donated to help research projects find ways of saving future babies from prematurity. We cooperate
with the following research projects:
Lilla barnets fond (The little child foundation)

Lilla barnets fond is a Swedish non-profit organization founded in 2008 in order to support medical research and development regarding the newborn child and its future health.
Membership is open to private persons as well as companies.
March of Dimes
(www.marchofdimes.com)

March of Dimes´ mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth,
and infant mortality. They carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy
to save babies' lives.
Pregenia
(www.pregenia.org)

Pregenia’s vision is to elucidate the cause of preterm birth and to understand the mechanisms
behind so preventions can be made in an early stage. The objective of Pregenia is to develop a research effort
to reduce mortality amongst newborn children. The specific aim of the research programme will be to identify
genes which could predispose women to preterm birth, a major cause of newborn mortality.
