Information is one of your greatest assets when your family is first confronted with prematurity. To learn more, we recommend the following sites:
Preemie-L (www.preemie-l.com) Preemie-L was founded by our friend Anne Casey and is a longstanding favourite of preemie families.
The site offers dozens of helpful links, mailing lists, and discussion forums.
The March of Dimes (www.marchofdimes.com/prematurity). The March of Dimes is the undisputed leading advocate of prematurity awareness.
The March of Dimes is leading the fight to defeat prematurity, "the silent crisis," with a multiyear,
multimillion-dollar national campaign. Their site includes research, articles, and a NICU family support program.
Walk America (www.walkamerica.org). Run by the March of Dimes, Walk America is one of the best ways to give back to the preemie
community. Walk America is held annually in dozens of towns to raise money and awareness of prematurity.
We here at Preemie Purple Hearts participate in our local Walk America programs every year.
Premature Baby Premature Child (www.prematurity.org). Run by Alison Martin, prematurity.org is another great site for copious preemie resources.
PROM - Premature Rupture Of Membranes (www.kanalen.org/prom). Here you can read many PROM stories and find information on different situations around PROM,
given by women who have experienced PROM. By joining the mailing list you can meet other PROM parents and find support.
