Preemie Purple Hearts was founded in 1997 by a preemie mom, Renea Ericson, as a way to share with other
preemie families the precious glass heart she had handmade to serve as a symbol for her family's unity and
strength through their trying NICU experience.
Since then, the Preemie Heart keepsake has grown to become one of the most meaningful symbols
of preemie unity, involving people from different generations throughout the world.
Inkan (Sweden) and Renea met online in the preemie community 'preemie-l'.
As time went by a cooperation developed where Inkan established producing and selling of the Preemie heart
in Sweden and Europe for the benefit of preemie parents associations and research.
In time for the 10 year anniversary 2007, the Preemie-heart story has been translated into more
languages and is now available in English, Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish Italian, Spanish, and Icelandic. In addition, new websites with common domain names are launched. |
